The way i look at it there s only two reasons to do it that way.
Connecting case fans to psu.
You connect case fans to the motherboard starting with the cpu fan label on your motherboard to your cpu fan.
How to connect psu cables.
Attach the case fan to the vented rear panel.
It s common to find intake fans toward the bottom of a system usually at the front.
This is important because your bios often tracks fan speeds to the cpu and may prevent the computer from booting if a cpu fan is not det.
One being that you had no other choice.
Some video cards do not.
When you go to plug in your case fans you notice there aren t enough ports.
Connect the fan to the power supply.
On my motherboard theres 3 places where i can connect fans i have only one left on there thus i will now have to connect them to my psu.
Connect your power supply cables beginning with the 24 pin motherboard connector.
Some motherboards will only require a 4 pin connector.
Next connect the 8 pin cpu motherboard cable.
If you are new to pc building you might come across this problem.
The cpu and psu will be mounted on their respective components but case fans can be situated almost anywhere.
Next connect the 6 or 8 pin pci power cable to your video card.
I can t think of a good reason to direct connect the fan to a power supply unless it s got a speed controller built into the power plug.
I show you how.
But i have no idea what connectors do i need in order to connect the fans to my psu.
